Rest in His Service

Lake Louise from the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise by Peg Parker

My word and theme for this year are service. God continues to say, however, that service for Him should not be burdensome. He promised that He would be with the Hebrew people in the promised land.

Exodus 33:14 And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus reiterates that heavy burdens should be exchanged for God’s plan for our lives and service, instead yielding rest and peace.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Close fellowship with Jesus gives us a certainty about our calling and our responsibilities in service. We develop and continue that fellowship with daily Bible reading, prayer, fellowship with other believers both in services and small groups, and asking for moment-by-moment wisdom. If we listen closely, we will walk in rest and peace as we serve our families, churches, and communities.

I believe that God will show us all how to serve Him with rest and peace as the year continues. He demonstrates His faithfulness as we walk forward in His path for us.
