Happy New Year!
2 Corinthians 6:18 …I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. ESV® Text Edition: 2016. Copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers
I began 2025 with the above scripture. The word God gave me for this year was “I AM, your father.” I wrote in January that I believed God wanted to strengthen my relationship with my heavenly Father.
He began with my purchase of Mark Medley’s devotional “Trinity Trilogy” (https://a.co/d/hS0IIDP) that exposed remnants of issues from my childhood and teenage years due to my earthly father’s near abandonment. Added problems came with my ex-husband’s choice of divorce. I realized I had projected characteristics from those men onto God my Father, an undeserved and false vision. I wrote that “the feelings that project experience onto God are not tangible evidence of the truth. As I learned from a friend many years ago, decisions need to be based on evidence and data. The evidence is that the Holy Spirit dwells in me and is proof that I am His beloved child. The gifts He has given for me to share with others further confirm that He has adopted me and that I have chosen to be His child. I am not an orphan; I am a beloved daughter.”
Choosing to believe the truth about who God is instead of my perception of His character forever altered our relationship. I am now firmly grounded in my role of daughter of the Most High God. He is my source of love and all it entails, including strength, provision, health, and security. No more wondering or doubt. I am my beloved’s and He is mine.
He spoke to a church community leader on my behalf, drawing me into a new area of service. Another ministry remains in development, but I am confident that He who began a good work in me with perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. No matter the number of my days, I will serve Him with all my heart and share what He teaches me here with all of you who seek Him too.
I continue to walk in rest and find peace as the prevailing characteristic of my life. My prayer is that you discover that God wants you to live in rest as you walk His path for your life and find peace. As Paul encouraged us:
Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry over anything whatever; tell God every detail of your needs in earnest and thankful prayer, and the peace of God which transcends human understanding, will keep constant guard over your hearts and minds as they rest in Christ Jesus.
