Peace always descends with Christmas because Jesus brought it with Him and left it for those who believe. Contentment and peace are interrelated – choosing contentment brings peace.
My new home is a place of contentment for me. I choose to be content in a new home. It is a choice I make daily, and all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ can receive the ability to choose contentment too.
It is not an easy choice; I struggle some days to stop looking at circumstances in terms of lack. Instead, praying and reading my Bible and devotions refocus my mind and heart on the blessing of eternal life and life here with the Holy Spirit. Peace and contentment follow.
Music can often also help with choosing contentment. Praise and worship music helps. One such song that always grounds me in His love is “Peace” by Michael McDonald. You can listen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV1sONUGG6E and be encouraged in hearing the words and beautiful melody.
Many passages in Isaiah foretell of the birth and life of Jesus Christ. One I find to be encouraging to believers is:
Isaiah 63:7-9 I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his compassion, according to the abundance of his steadfast love. For he said, “Surely they are my people, children who will not deal falsely.” And he became their Savior. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. This passage looks back and forward at the same time. It brings peace and contentment to my heart as I ponder how great a love propelled the Son of God to choose to be born a human baby, to live a life without sin, and to sacrifice Himself in my place. Overwhelming gratitude is another roadway to peace and contentment. I choose to walk it daily.
Merry Christmas to all my subscribers and their loved ones today.
