Contentment Lesson

As I wrote in January, this year my lesson is about contentment. It has been challenging to my natural personality once again. My walk with the Lord since 1978 has been about becoming more like Him and God is faithful to continue His work in me.

First, God undergirds my faith that He was and is and will be who the Word proclaims Him to be. He proves Himself faithful through provision and wisdom from godly family and friends. My decisions in the years since COVID-19 came on the scene have been reaffirmed from many directions.

Second, my certainty that He will keep His promises to me grows. Provision for my move came first. The restoration of my health and lifestyle will come.

The third and most relevant and important lesson about contentment for me develops my understanding and acceptance of time. By nature, I want tasks completed and problems solved yesterday. That is not how God works. He knows the best time in my life and yours for accomplishment and problem solving.

Time and trusting in God’s time is the element of contentment that I am learning this year. I completed training for a new church gathering and must await a location to meet. Recently, a soft tissue injury has hindered my ability to accomplish physical tasks. While I would prefer supernatural healing, the injury is progressively better and naturally improving; awaiting completion and guarded use of the joint continues to teach me patience as well as contentment.

In this season of hope and love, may all of us learn to better rest in the promise that God’s faithfulness will result in our best lives.
