Today I bask in the Light of the world. That light focuses my heart and soul on the One who saved me from myself. He is the reason this holiday season holds me in joy and not sorrow and sadness.
More than 43 years ago, I chose to believe that God exists, that He cares, that He made provision for my failings, my sins. The certainty of His provision for me in the Spirit now extends to certainty of His love as my true Father. As I look at my small Christmas tree, I choose to rejoice in the newness of life I was given so many years ago. Choosing joy every day grounds me in His loving embrace, giving me understanding of where I belong.
I chose to follow His lead to move from the city where I lived for more than 30 years to a new place. My life is not really much different, but my peace has increased several fold, a sure sign that I heard correctly. A new appreciation for His provision undergirds the new life He has planned for me here.
Do you walk in the light? He waits in the brightness for you to choose Him too.
John 8:12 Then Jesus said, “I am light to the world, and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.” The Passion Translation®.
