Still Holding My Hand

This year is one of learning to believe God wants to hold my hand and lead me. I have lived a life led by the Holy Spirit for many years but the depth of trust and understanding of His ministry to me grows.

I asked God for wisdom about His plan for income for me. He is my Jehovah Jireh, my Provider, and His faithfulness as my Father is evident looking back in my life. At every turn for more than 40 years, He has been there to make sure I have what I need. When I became pregnant, there was the new job my then husband had started. God replaced our previous joint income with more than we made together, allowing me to stay home with our children. When we took permanent transfer from Ohio to Texas, a cash offer came for our rural home that was not eligible for company buyout. A wise woman who owned her own business saw my potential and trained me as a medical transcriptionist after my studies at a local community college. After divorce and when I needed to leave my rental, friends went the extra mile, so I had the means to purchase my home.

This week I got word that the hospital group I previously worked for was choosing another candidate for the job I had done for more than five years. Most of us were laid off in 2018 and one of the remaining workers retired, opening the slot. However, it would have meant resuming a taxing commute daily, and I was actually relieved when the answer came. My current work is online only, and I believe God can prosper me in it to provide. He has made up gaps before, and He will again.

My lifelong struggle to see God as the Father Who never fails me is resolving. As I remember His faithfulness in the past, I am more and more confident that He Who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it. Early this year, I realized He wants to lead me directly, even more closely than I have allowed in the past. One of the scriptures that reflects His promise encourages me this week:

Isaiah 41:13 I am Yahweh, your mighty God! I grip your right hand and won’t let you go!   I whisper to you: ‘Don’t be afraid; I am here to help you!’  The Passion Translation®.
