Eternal Life – The Best Promise

Changing perspectives requires divine intervention for me. My mind does not easily shift to an eternal view. God took the reins in worship last week; He uses my abandoning myself and seeking His face to show me truth.

During a Kent Henry https://www.kenthenry.com/ online worship and intercession event at Gateway House of Prayer, I heard a question. God asked, “If you can believe me for the greatest thing which is eternal life, why do you have trouble believing my promises for your physical life?” It was like having my head snap around to see what was coming from a different direction.

It is nearly a year since the quarantine started in the United States. No part of my life is untouched. But I realize that the promises God made so many years ago are still valid, despite the seeming inactivity. He said my body would be healed. He said He is my good Father and that I can count on Him to take care of me. He said I would be part of a marriage that accurately represents Jesus and His bride. Believing in measure is not enough for me any longer. God wants my complete trust in His plan and in His timing.

As I think about eternal life for anyone accepting the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on their behalf, it seems that those promises made to me about this physical life are truly miniscule in comparison. A new and more complete understanding of Paul’s letter about God’s intention for us all grows in my spirit and soul:

Philippians 1:6 I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. Amplified Bible (AMP) Copyright © 2015 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, CA 90631.
