Major life events keep happening in my world. Last week, a polar vortex dropped a severe winter storm into Texas. Other states have suffered as well. Here in Southeast Texas, snow and ice is extremely rare. The memes saying Texas is closed are accurate when winter comes with a vengeance.
My home is almost 16 years old. I am the original owner. Once again, God’s provision for me with my house is clear. With minimal effort, my pipes did not freeze. My recently purchased natural gas stove was a champ at providing safe, alternative heat. Its efficiency yields minimal carbon monoxide, so lighting the stovetop with matches sustained the temperature until power was restored.
My home surviving a polar vortex without issue demonstrates that God knew so many years ago what I would need this winter. The understanding of how He planned for my safety in such severe weather encourages me to believe for other areas of need in my life.
Thinking back to other provision, I recall when we sold our home in Ohio. I had asked for a specific amount based on fair market value and our needs. The offer came for the exact amount and it was a cash offer, allowing quick closing. When I needed a new-to-me vehicle a few years ago, I found a great vehicle with an exceptional maintenance record. I’m still driving that truck.
Looking ahead, I know that God has set all necessary things in motion to keep the promises He made to me regarding healing, provision, and relationship. Indeed, a segment of provision began with training for a new job today. He continues to reveal the truth of His word to me including the wisdom found in the Old Testament:
