Books for change

Alvimann

I believe I have been changed for the better by reading and absorbing a number of books other than the Bible written by godly Christians. Any written by Andrew Murray. Fiction by Grace Livingston Hill. But two in particular I want to encourage my subscribers to consider for their libraries.

One is an old friend, although recently updated. Joyce Meyer’s “The Battlefield of the Mind” taught me in a new way why and how God wants me to bring my thoughts captive to Christ. He wants me to agree with His Word instead of what the world tells me, what the enemy whispers, and what my own fleshly desires might say. Before I read this book, I did not understand the extent of outside influences on my thought life. I learned from Joyce to make the Word of God and the Holy Spirit’s leading paramount in what and how I think. It profoundly changed how I view my life and especially what I believe about how to think.  Below is a link to Joyce Meyer Ministries if you’re interested.

The second is a more recent offering. Lisa Bevere’s “Without Rival” revealed a lie I had believed based on incorrect teaching from more than a few directions. It has changed how I view ministry. It has also let me see that being female is not a hindrance to what God has called me to do for and through Him. I realized as I read that the lie had colored my life’s work and my attitudes about marriage. That attitude no doubt negatively influenced relationships in the past. I look forward to improvement in communications with others based on the truth instead of a lie. Lisa’s book is available through the link below:

I rejoice today that God’s faithfulness extends to every area of our lives. He wants our souls to prosper so that we might better reflect His glory and love.
