He is my vision

Koan

I received a word from the Lord from a dear friend this week. She is a prayer warrior and leader of my prayer team. She said I would have vision for what is happening now. She was so right.

Today from Psalm 23:3, I realized that I am led by God for His name’s sake. He must be true to who He is. The day I was laid off from work, I spoke prophetic words declaring Him faithful. Thus, the path before me is laid out by God and He is leading so that His name will be glorified and others can believe he is faithful. I remember many years ago, a dear friend gave me an old Irish hymn at a time when I needed to learn about vision. It spoke to me then and does now as well and reads:

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Words: Dallan Forgail (8th Century); translated by Mary Elizabeth Byrne; adapted by Eleanor Henrietta Hull

Just as many years ago, I know that Jesus is my vision and that His faithfulness endures to me throughout my life and to all generations.
