Healing to come

Wednesday is the day my healing begins. I will go to have a corneal nodule removed from my eye in preparation for cataract surgery. The second opinion convinced me that the nodule removal is necessary for better vision the rest of my life, so I am moving ahead with God’s help. A sweet friend insisted on taking me to surgery. My daughter-in-love is here now and I will have her help too.

The stress level in my life right now is at a level that is driving me to my Father’s arms daily. It’s mostly work; the plan for converting our method of transcription is delayed because the first choice for software is not compatible with our current platform. Uncertainty is difficult for all of us. God wants me to deal with it calmly and with faith and not let it upset me as much as it has some days. His faithfulness to me is undeniable. He has never failed to show up on time for me. He is always on time but not what I’d consider early. He always knows what is best as well as when is best.

This eye surgery comes at the perfect time; my family is back from summer vacation and I don’t have to be alone for now. This surgery is not invasive. Like “peeling a banana” the doctor says. No anesthesia other than drops in the eye, a one-day followup and then just waiting. I’m praying that my eye heals quickly without scar tissue so that I can have the cataract surgery as soon as possible. The cataract has not worsened appreciably, but it needs done.

It also comes at a good time because I am distracted from what’s going on in our world and nation. War and rumors of war, conflicts, inhumane treatment of others, child abuse, human slavery and trafficking all loom large if one chooses to let them. Knowing the end of the story helps, but one cannot be untouched by events inside and outside of our country. I clinging to the words of Jesus:

“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed (frightened, troubled); these things must take place, but the end is not yet.Mark 13:7

I find even more focus in praying for salvation for those who have not yet received His sacrifice; it is eternal life that is most important, and I cannot neglect this important area of my prayer life. My sight is important, but the time is short and salvation is the utmost need of each human being. Our faithful God is at work behind the scenes in every life.
