Thankful for my SUV

mensatic.jpgIt’s been raining off and on in Texas since Memorial Day. The drought seems to be waning and with Tropical Storm Bill, the rains came down and have continued sporadically since then. I live more than 25 miles from work. When street flooding happens, driving to the hospital where I do transcription is a challenge. This month, I am grateful for the choice of vehicle I made in 2001.

I worked at home for many years and when I changed jobs and had to drive to work again, my trusty SUV had about 80,000 miles on it. It has more than 130,000 now, but the make and model are sturdy and reliable and it keeps on truckin’ as they say.

The rain means ponding in Houston, especially where freeway ramps meet the main lanes. It flattens out and the drainage is less optimal and so there are several spots on my route that require close attention. I thank God for the clearance I have with my truck. (My vehicle is built on a truck chassis.) I feel safe negotiating these spots. I do not try to navigate through the deeper channels that go under freeways; the potential tragedy is not worth the lost time. We had less rain with Bill than expected, but there were still those spots that always have flooding or at least minor ponding.

I really am thanking God that I listened to my older son and the Holy Spirit when I bought this vehicle. It was so many years ago but that decision has resulted in safe travel for me through many storms. Long-term decision making is multifaceted and takes some time. First is realizing you have a need and then asking for wisdom and grace about how God wants to meet that need. He is always faithful to give the best answers if we are open to His leading.

Proverbs 4:18: But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared]. (AMP) www.biblegateway.com

God’s faithfulness to give wisdom and show the way is available to those who have accepted the atoning blood of Jesus and have been given His righteousness in exchange for all their sin. I have learned to go boldly to the throne of grace for answers to my problems. He is faithful to provide wisdom. I have been safe through all kinds of storms because of His love and mercy, and this month, through the results of storms.

Do you need God’s wisdom about a need or problem you face? Go to your Cleft for Life and seek Him. Because He loves you, He will answer.
