I grew up the oldest in a family of five children, the product of a broken marriage. My father and I were never close after the divorce when I was 13. I struggled with acceptance at school and elsewhere, feeling cut off from him. At 21, I married a man much like him but younger than myself emotionally.
My life changed radically in September 1978. I accepted the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, Son of God, for my sins. In my life, the path through that door and into my new life has been momentous. But there has been a constant that has kept me from straying too far and into ditches as I have walked there.
That constant has been the secret place of meeting God each day. It is the place I call The Cleft.
